Pullen: President Obama Offends with Series of Apologies
| Pullen: President Obama Offends with Series of Apologies Phoenix, AZ - President Barack Obama's apology tour throughout Europe is as offensive as it is repugnant according to Arizona Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen. As the President's first official trip overseas continues, many are disappointed with the Commander-in-Chief's propitiatory tone in Europe, which has been characterized as apologetic, decidedly anti-American and ignores America's historical supportive role in European affairs. "It's ironic that the President has chosen to kick start his "Blame America First" tour in France and Germany where so many of our armed forces have made the ultimate sacrifice fighting tyranny in the name of freedom," said Chairman Pullen. "This type of approach does little to improve our standing on the world stage; in fact, it emboldens our enemies against us. Our foreign policy has been a force for liberty around the world, and for this President to diminish the achievements of those who have served our country is a travesty." President Obama was quoted during an address in Strasbourg, France as saying: "Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive." "I don't know for whom he is speaking, certainly not for me or many other Americans," said Chairman Pullen. "Apparently the President still doesn't like our country too much if he is critizing our foreign policy from foreign soil," said Chairman Pullen. "Blaming ourselves for diplomatic problems around the globe makes about the same sense as Secretary of State Clinton blaming the U.S. for the drug problems in Mexico." "I am at a loss as to what this strategy seeks to accomplish," the Chairman continued. "In my mind, it smacks of liberal self-flagellation and a weak attempt to pacify the European elite. The President of the United States cannot, and should not offer a mea culpa to try and foster European good will in an effort to advance his America second agenda. Historically, negotiating from a position of weakness has proven to be disastrous." Date: 4/9/2009 |
