There Is A Season - Spend, Spend, Spend

In a fit of commonsense and fiscal austerity, the US Senate blocked a measure which would add $55 billion to our skyrocketing budget deficit. The legislation would have extended unemployment benefits for those who have been receiving benefits in excess of six months for the rest of the year.

With Senators from both sides of the aisle expressing concern with tax hikes on business and adding $55 billion to our $1.4 trillion budget deficit, Republicans have forced Democrat leadership advance a plan that doesn't continue to put the taxpayer on the hook.

"We all recognize that economic plight of those who have been suffering through this horrendous recession," said Arizona Republican Party Chairman Randy Pullen. "But much needs to be done to this bill before Republicans can support it. Americans are frustrated with excessive spending and skyrocketing debt. At some point the government must exhibit some fiscal restraint. It's my hope that Congress can keep working on a sustainable solution that actually stimulates the economy rather than stifles growth.

"The $105 billion package could have a lasting and negative impact on small business, including physicians," continued the Chairman. "Combined with the fact that nearly half of the bill by borrowing, and the other half tax increases, we need to get back to work and come up with something that makes financial sense."
