STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX (November 30, 2011) – Representative John Fillmore (R - Apache Junction), is pleased to receive the prestigious “Barton Barr Award” in recognition of his service to the State of Arizona, and in particular, the professional Fire Fighters of Arizona and their families.
“I am proud to be honored with this award and will always be supportive of the individual fire and police first responders,” said Fillmore, a first term legislator who represents most of Pinal County. He worked diligently to preserve first responders’ benefits while serving on the Appropriations and Employment & Regulatory committees.
Earlier this year, state legislators tackled some of the most complex challenges in Arizona’s history: closing a $1 billion budget shortfall; reforming entitlements; streamlining government; and creating jobs.
“The Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona are thankful for Representative John Fillmore’s strong support for public safety and in doing so has made our communities safer and allows our citizens to enjoy a higher quality of life,” said Mike Colletto of the Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona. “Our members at our state convention last May voted unanimously to give Representative Fillmore our highest legislative award, “The Burton Barr Award” for his support and dedication."
