REMINDER: Voter Registration Deadline Approaches for Republican Presidential Primary
PHOENIX , AZ – With one week until the deadline, the Arizona Republican Party is reminding Arizonans to register and re-register Republican if they plan on voting in the Republican Presidential Preference Election on February 28th. While the Arizona Democratic Party has decided to forgo a presidential primary election, the Arizona Republican Party is excited to participate in the national selection process.
Currently, Arizona Republicans hold a voter registration advantage to Independent and Democrat voters. As of November, 2011 (last voter registration count), Republicans have 1,121,148 voters; Independents have 1,034,209 voters and Democrats have 967,336 voters. The Republican Party expects to increase that number as the deadline closes.
A.J. LaFaro, Chairman of the Arizona Republican Party Statewide Voter Registration Committee, stressed the importance of registering Republican, “During Obama’s administration, our country has faced monumental challenges – continued high unemployment, millions losing their homes, a reduced standard of living, a $15 trillion dollar increasing national debt and the first downgrade to America’s credit rating ever. Arizonans want to change the direction of the country and will get that chance starting February 28th.”
Shane Wikfors, Communications Director for the State Party urged, “It is imperative that Arizonans register Republican before next Monday’s deadline because Arizona will play a significant role in electing our next Republican President.” Arizona voters are at the front end of the Presidential Primary process. “We really set the pace of the race heading into Super Tuesday,” Wikfors said.
The Arizona Republican Party requests local and statewide media outlets announce the January 30th voter registration deadline for anyone intending to vote in Arizona’s Presidential Preference Election on February 28th.
Again, the deadline to register or re-register to vote will be midnight, Monday, January 30th. The process is easy with anyone able to do so by visiting the Service Arizona website at https://servicearizona.com/webapp/evoter/selectLanguage or by visiting any of the Republican Party offices located around the state. Please contact the State Republican Party or County Recorder Offices for additional information regarding voter registration.
