Arizona Republican Party Statement on Former Democrat Chairman Entry into CD-9
(PHOENIX, AZ) - The Arizona Republic Party issued the following statement regarding the announcement by former Democrat Chairman Andrei Cherny’s entrance into the ninth congressional district:
The Arizona Republican Party welcomes yet another Democrat contestant to the race in the newly created open seat CD-9. Andrei Cherny’s abandoned his own party position to chase yet another elective office here in Arizona. Under his leadership, Cherny did little to advance the party while ratcheting up the rhetoric and rancor of minority party status. Democrats now hold 3rd place status in voter registration in Arizona.
“Cherny’s dismal record of leadership of the Democratic party speaks volumes about his inability to lead or even represent voters,” commented Arizona Republican Party Communications Director, Shane Wikfors. “Republicans will have a robust and spirited primary process that will ultimately provide the voters with a strong visionary leader to represent the new district,” Wikfors said.
NRCC Spokesman, Daniel Scarpinato, said, “There’s no question, Arizona voters looking for a mouth piece for Obama’s job-destroying policies will find a perfect match in Andrei Cherny. Cherny would be phenomenal at implementing more policies in Washington to grow government, stifle job creation and burden the middle class with mountains of debt.”
As of Thursday, there are two Republicans who have filed or announced their intention to seek the Republican nomination for this open congressional seat. Air National Guardsman Captain Travis Grantham and retired USAF Lieutenant Colonel Wendy Rogers are officially in the race.
